The Giving Gown Foundation

Our story began in the summer of 2007.  After learning about "sister" organizations who are helping girls, I was touched - what a wonderful idea.  I knew that there are many girls in need, right here.  Girls, who without our help, will not be able to attend their prom.  To some the idea may sound superficial at the onset "how can a dress change a life?"  Our program is so much more than "just a dress".  Many girls have never experienced unconditional love and support.  We are not asking anything from them in return.  Young women need and desire positive life experiences and will benefit by knowing "someone cared".  We have been blessed by the mentoring of several sister organizations and although we are not directly affiliated with any of them we all strive to touch lives - one dress at a time.

In 2008 (at our inaugural Boutique Day) we had the pleasure of assisting 91 girls find the dress of their dreams.  Last year we dressed over 300 girls and are expecting the growth to continue as we are looking forward to 500 girls being in attendance at Boutique Day 2010.

We are always working towards expanding our organization and would love to offer year 'round assistance.  We hope to be able to provide resources that will encourage and enable not only young women, but young men to develop into responsible, successful adults.

Volunteers make up the Heart of Giving Gown ~we are blessed by the outpouring of volunteers  and support our volunteers bring.  We also offer various volunteer opportunities to teens enabling them to fulfill service project hours for various organizations and clubs.

Teens are at a critical time in their lives; a time where one person CAN make a difference.  We believe that children are the world's most valuable resource and best hope for the future.

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
Psalms 127:3-5
